The Eternal Nightmare:
The Beginning of The Darkened Blood Stained Monster Jester Prince of Vita Edo and Nightmares

“William Thanos! Come in here right now!” A voice boomed from the slightly ajar door across the hall. William’s father had been in that room for quite some time with some stranger. William, the four foot, blue eyed, blonde little boy thought it was strange for him to be called in there, seeing as how he was never allowed to see guests. His father considered him to be vermin, therefore not worthy of seeing anyone. William dropped his toys as he stepped towards the dimly lit room, the stone walls holding the bitter cold within them. He stepped into the room, his lungs becoming trapped in his throat as he struggled to breathe. The man that stood there brought chills down his spine and brought fear to his soul. His long black hair was tied back up as his red eyes shone under the dim light. William stood there, frozen in fear as he glanced at his father, The overweight man sitting in the wooden chair to the left of the other man in the, what looked to be, burlap shirt and pants.
“Well, William. Step forward.” He ordered. William hesitated, then walked onward slowly. The man stood up, examining his face. The man leaned against a large cane, with a strange horned skull on the top. He was dressed regally, which was strange for someone who looked like a traveller. William exchanged glances with him, then quickly turned away. The man laughed as he looked back up at William’s father, the swift movement shifting his midnight black robes.
“How old is he?” The man asked calmly.
“He turned five just last month. His mother died of the black plague last month. I am not sure how much longer we are going to last.” William’s father explained. The man nodded, looking at the door for a moment. A large white x was painted across it. He turned back to William, feeling his sides. William cringed when he felt the nails scrape along his scrawny body. A look of irritation crossed the man’s eyes as he looked over at William’s father.
“A little malnourished do you not think?” He asked. His father shrugged.
“Times are rough.” He stated. The man examined his father then, nodded calmly.
“I will take him.” He said finally, gripping William’s wrist as he suddenly transformed. His smile turned into that of a beast’s, with teeth prodding out in many different directions. A pair of twisted horns grew out of his head as his robes became ratted and grungy looking. William attempted to pull away.
“Father! What is going on?” He moaned. The man pulled William back towards him, flames beginning to shoot up as the image of a pentagram appeared on the floor.
“William, were you not aware? Your father is trading you to me for wealth and good health.” He stated. William’s fear intensified when he realized who it was he was being traded for.
“Y-you are Satan…” He stammered. The man cackled as the world around them began to disappear.
“Your payment will come to you soon” He called back to the father. He then turned back to William, pulling out a large scythe.
“William. You are mine now. Consider your self as The Darkened Blood Stained Monster Jester Prince of Vita Edo and Nightmares, or the Devil‘s son, Nightmare.” He snarled. William felt the blade pierce through him, then nothing.

“Nightmare… Nightmare…” A far away voice called. Nightmare opened his eyes slowly, feeling stronger and more powerful already. He stared at his exposed stitches, tracing the line down his stomach. He flipped his head back up, staring up at Satan.
“Yes, father?” He asked calmly. Satan smiled, holding out one hand.
“It’s time for your revenge, my son.” Satan explained calmly. The small, five year old life eater smiled with his jagged teeth almost equal to those of Satan’s, leaping out of bed. A portal suddenly appeared before him. Nightmare entered through, his midnight black hair blowing in the autumn air as he entered the other world. It had been about three years since Nightmare had been here. He was now eight years old and still aging. Nightmare was unsure of how much longer he was going to age, but that wasn’t important right now. He walked down the streets of the town that had now been rid of the plague. He smirked. Time to raise some hell. He lifted up one hand, catching a child that was running by. The child froze, it’s heart pounding. Nightmare’s face twisted into one of sick enjoyment as trembles ran down his head, shaking the child’s head until it exploded. Blood splattered along Nightmare’s face. He sighed, licking his lips.
“Oh, this is fun” He muttered. He stepped onward as the towns people became aware of his presence. They began to follow him silently, attempting to corner him. Nightmare played along for a few minutes, then suddenly stopped, turning around. He grinned happily.
“It’s great to be home again.” He stated. One of the townsmen stepped up.
“This was never your home, demon. Return to hell.” the man ordered. Nightmare threw back his head, laughing. He stared back at the towns folk, his eyes suddenly looking deranged and crazy like some sort of animal. He leapt up, suddenly vanishing, then reappeared on top of a man, ripping his throat out with his teeth. One of the men quickly reached out for him, but Nightmare disappeared and reappeared at his throat, lifting him up into the air without a second thought. He tossed him towards the wall, watching his bones crack through his skin as he fell through the stone wall. Nightmare laughed manically as he marched onward. He paused for a moment, feeling a slight bit of pain. He glanced down at his stomach, smirking. He turned around, spotting the person who had thrown it. Nightmare then proceeded to shove the pitchfork handle down his throat, then rip his stomach open as the man struggled to breath. Nightmare looked back at the towns people.
“Where is my father.” He snarled, getting bored of this. One nervous towns person pointed a finger at the church.
“He joined the church awhile ago, becoming a monk.” The towns person stated. Nightmare grinned happily.
“Oh I love churches…” He hissed, stepping onward. This time there were no objections. Nightmare pushed open the large wooden doors, cackling away as he entered the marble foyer
“Forgive me father, for I have-” He began, but stopped when he noticed all of the priests and monks with Crossbows.
“Tool of Satan. Leave at once.” The man, whom Nightmare assumed to be the leader, ordered. Nightmare took a step forward.
“Try me, Father.” He hissed. Suddenly, the crossbow archers began shooting rampantly as some of the younger ones threw holy items at him. Nightmare fell backwards, his eyes closing. Just when they thought it was over, Nightmare stood up again, clinging to the large, white stone pillar. He laughed as about half of the priests dropped down dead. He looked at the leader.
“Now where’s my father?” He hissed. The leader opened his mouth to speak, then shook his head.
“Your father left just a little while ago on a mission. He’s on his way right now.” The man stated, trembling. Nightmare grinned, his shark teeth shooting out.
“Then you are of no use to me.” He snarled, lunging out.

Nightmare exited the small church, his feet leaving blood foot prints on the ground. He wiped his mouth diligently, then looked to the villagers. He held up one hand.
“I’m full, don’t worry. But you won’t be living anymore.” He stated, the town suddenly becoming engulfed in flames. He started back out into the woods, running with his demon strength. He suddenly stopped, spotting an obese man in a monks robe. He grinned, leaping on top of him, snarling. He turned him over, staring into the fat man’s fearful eyes. The eyes of his father.
“Bastard. You thought you could escape?” He snarled, clawing his face. His cheek was partially torn off. He moaned, still alive as blood spilt down past his ears and onto the dirt floor. Nightmare cackled.
“Bastard. Bastard!” He screamed, clawing away at his face angrily. Tears of blood began to stream down his face as he laughed, feeling relief. He suddenly stopped as he smashed the skinned skull. He froze, staring at the headless body. He stared at it shocked, then smiled again. He threw his head back and let out a horrendous laugh. He stood up, then looked to the ground.
“Father, new father. What should I do now?” He asked. He suddenly felt a magnetic pull, drawing him elsewhere. He laughed as he followed it, leaving the bloodied corpse of his father behind.

“Excuse me ma’am, are you lost?” He asked calmly, his voice sounding soothing and relaxed
The crying lady glanced up at Nightmare, surprised to see such a dashing young man holding out a rose towards her. She nodded, standing up.
“I was here on a vacation with my father when I looked the wrong way. Now I’m trapped in England and I don’t know where to go! Are you a local?” She asked. Nightmare nodded calmly.
“I am now. I was drawn to the beautiful shores of England at a young age and I’ve lived here ever since. It’s lovely once you dry your eyes and take a good look around, really.” He said calmly. The lady nodded.
“I-I’m sure it is… But I should find my father…” She muttered. Nightmare smirked, taking her hand.
“Well, Miss. How about we take a tour while we look for your father? Hmm?” He asked. The lady nodded gently, walking towards him. He smiled. He had her, now he just had to lure her further to plant his kiss of death upon her neck. He lead her out towards the pier, standing on the end.
“Isn’t it glorious miss? The way the moon dances along the waves?” He asked. The lady nodded calmly, manoeuvring around so that her heel would not get caught in a knot. He laughed calmly, lifting her up.
“But you know, the moon is not nearly as beautiful as you.” He muttered, leaning forward. The woman giggled as he kissed her neck gently. He licked his lips. The taste of her flesh was so wondrous. He stepped into the shadows a bit more, kissing her once again and placing her on the ground.
“Miss…” He muttered. The young lady nodded.
“Yes?” She asked. Nightmare smirked.
“You really shouldn’t trust strangers.” He stated, concluding his number by gripping her heart and tearing it out of her body. The young lady tried to scream, but she couldn’t do anything. He had her. He could feel the warmth of her blood dribbling down his chin as he reached across her chest, gripping her breast to get a better grip. His long, sharp, dagger-like nails dug into the breast, more blood spilling from the open wound. He paused, sensing someone near him. He turned, the woman’s body still in his jaws as her blood spilt onto the ground. A young blonde woman, looking to be about eighteen stood there, a handkerchief over her mouth, showing her shock. Her blue eyes were wide with fear and horror as she watched the woman’s lifeless body fall from his mouth. He wiped his chin, stepping towards her. The girl turned around, fleeing from the scene. Her long blue dress flowed in the evening breeze. Nightmare sighed, about to run after her, but was mesmerized by her beauty as she ran. He held his breath as his heart began to pound against his chest. Something which had not happened for many years. He glanced down at his chest. What was happening to him? He turned around and ran the other way, fleeing the scene of the crime. He tried to stop thinking about her, but the image of her perfect figure lingered in his mind. How he longed to hold her… He shook his head, looking at the ground.
“Father… what is happening to me?” He asked.

Nightmare made his way through the villagers the next morning, following the young girl at the market. He kept a low profile until an elderly woman tugged on his shirt.
“Excuse me, dear. Will you be a saint and help me carry this pig home?” She asked, her voice frail and shaky. Nightmare subconsciously nodded.
“Oh, uh yeah.” He said calmly, looking over at the girl. He cursed in his head when he saw her staring back at him. Suddenly, there was a huge, dead, fat pig in his arms. He grunted at first, shocked by the large dead animal, then trusted it over his shoulder and began following the woman to her home. He could sense the girl’s presence the entire way.
“The hunter is becoming the hunted…” He thought to himself, and this thought thrilled him. He stopped at the old woman’s house, dropping the pig where she told him to.
“Thank you dear.” She said gently, then walked inside. Nightmare nodded, then turned back around. He froze when he stared into the pure innocent blue eyes of the girl. She glared at him.
“What the heck?” She asked. Nightmare blinked, shocked.
“Excuse me?” He asked. The girl shook her head.
“I was expecting you to rip her to shreds, like you did to the other girl last night. Is this a tactic to stalk them or something?” She snarled. Nightmare shook his head.
“No. She’s going to die soon anyways. That pig’s way to damn fat for her.” He stated. The girl shook her head.
“What are you?” She asked. Nightmare shrugged, walking past her.
“I’m human. Like you” He said calmly. The girl grabbed his arm. His stomach began to flutter as she felt the warmth of her skin course throughout him. He turned back around, looking down at the girl. Her other hand was placed firmly on her hip.
“Like hell you are. You’re not human. If you were, then you wouldn’t have mauled that woman.” She stated. Nightmare sighed.
“Fine then. I’m an artificial son of the devil, and a Life Eater. My full title is The Darkened Blood Stained Monster Jester Prince of Vita Edo and Nightmares. But you can just call me Nightmare. I’m also all of the nightmares of the world manifested into flesh, so I can create your worst nightmare and make it a reality.” He explained. The girl stood there for a moment, her face blank.
“Are you serious? That’s your explanation? I’ve never even heard of a Life Eater before… Well, I‘m Amberlynn, but you can call me Amby” Amby explained, “Are you going to eat me?”
Nightmare smirked, suddenly feeling at ease as he ruffled her hair.
“No, you’d taste to fruity.” He stated. Amby glared at him.
“So wait, you’re saying I wouldn’t taste any good?” She asked. Nightmare nodded.
“Yep. That’s exactly what I’m saying.” He said calmly. Amby shook her head.
“I’ll have you know that I taste very good!” She stated. Nightmare laughed.
“Uh-huh? Well. How are you going to prove tha-” He started, but was interrupted by Amby leaping on him, kissing his lips passionately. She paused for a moment.
“If you bite down, I’ll kill you” She whispered into his mouth. Nightmare shook his head.
“I won’t…” He muttered. Amby smiled, then kissed him again. The two soon became lost in the kiss. Amby pulled away suddenly, realizing what she was doing.
“Oh. Oh crap! I look like such a whore now! I just met you today!” She said, touching her lips. Nightmare stared at her, panting gently, eyes wide in shock. She sighed.
“I’m sorry. You don’t have to ever see me again…” She said softly, turning away. Nightmare felt strange. She was treating him like he was human and she had believed what he had said… His emotions took over as he gripped her hand. Amby turned around, staring him in the eyes. She opened her mouth to speak, but Nightmare quickly intercepted.
“I want to see you. Every day.” He said gently. Amby smiled.
“I want to see you too.” She said gently, then pulled away. Soon she was gone. Nightmare sighed, leaning against the fence calmly. Soon a black cat was next to him.
“You know, if you associate yourself with a human the other Life Eaters will become angered.” The cat stated calmly. Nightmare nodded.
“I know. But you won’t be angered with me, right Katze?” Nightmare asked. The cat nodded calmly, turning into his Life Eater form. His medium length, messy dark hair and his green and yellow eyes were circled with black. He wore a simple white dress shirt with a black vest over top with black dress pants. He sighed.
“Just… keep her a secret and if someone finds out, pray to god Satan doesn’t find out.” He said. Nightmare nodded.
“I know. Satan would be pissed if he found out I fell in love with a human. He doesn’t like any of his Life Eaters to have weak points.” Nightmare stated. Katze sighed, pushing a lock of hair back.
“Good luck. You’ll need it.” Katze said calmly, walking away. Nightmare nodded once again, turning back around. He then began his walk back home.

About a month in human time had gone by. Nightmare sat on the pier with Amby calmly, staring out onto the ocean. Amby sighed, kissing his cheek gently.
“So why aren’t we allowed to go in heavy public areas again?” She asked. Nightmare laughed, pushing her hair back and kissing her forehead.
“Because if another Life eater were to see you, You’d be slaughtered instantly.” He explained. Amby nodded, laughing slightly.
“Oh, I see. Okay, then, that makes sense.” She said calmly. Nightmare held her close. This was the first time in… well since he was turned that he felt human. He smiled down upon the young girl, pulling two tickets out of his pocket.
“Tonight, we’re going to the opera.” He stated. Amby laughed.
“Seriously? Wow… How’d you afford that?” She asked. Nightmare shook his head.
“If I want money, I get it. It’s one of the bonuses of being a Life Eater.” He said calmly, standing up. He held out one hand, helping Amby up. He handed her one ticked.
“Now, I have to go, but I will see you at seven o’clock sharp.” He said, kissing her forehead. Amby nodded happily. Nightmare pulled away calmly, beginning to walk off.
“Nightmare?” Amby called after him. Nightmare turned around.
“Yes?” He asked. Amby nodded.
“I love you. I want to be with you for eternity.” She stated. Nightmare smiled, walking back towards her.
“After the show, I promise. I’ll turn you into one like me… Then we can always be together.” He whispered in her ear. Amby nodded happily.
“Okay. But I mean it. I love you. I’m not saying this so that you’ll turn me.” She stated. Nightmare nodded, kissing her on the lips ever so gently.
“I know.” He said calmly, then turned away.

“Where is she?” Nightmare growled, tapping his foot impatiently. It had been about an hour and the Opera had already started. Nightmare sighed, looking at the night sky. It wasn’t like Amby to be late. Katze suddenly dashed up to him, panting heavily.
“They… The others… They’ve got Amberlynn!” He cried. Nightmare stared down at the small black cat, his face expressing sheer horror. His face then turned to pure anger and hatred.
“Where. Show me now!” He roared. Katze took off as Nightmare followed him, his mind running rampant with all of the things they could have been doing to her. He burst through the old church, the ruins bringing back memories of when he was first turned and went back to get his revenge. Now, he was once again filled with vengeance. He stood in the middle of the room, then looked up at the ceiling, his arms outstretched.
“Where is she, you bastards?” He snarled. Suddenly the candles were lit as the faces of the ten other Life Eaters gazed down at him. They then stared forward. Amberlynn was chained up to a board, blood running down it. Nightmare lunged at the board, tearing at the chains frantically. Amberlynn was muttering to herself frantically, her entire body shaking. Nightmare turned to the others.
“What the hell did you do to her?” He snarled. One of the Life Eaters spoke up.
“What a Life Eater is supposed to do. Feed on memories, dreams and nightmares of humans. Or if one should feel the need, the entire body. Nightmare, we’ve dealt with the rest of her and you’ve fallen astray. Finish her. She is nothing more than a mess now.” The Life Eater barked. Nightmare glared at them, holding Amberlynn close to him. He lifted her into one of his arms, then leapt out at the Life Eaters, slaughtering all of them. Katze suddenly entered, shocked by all of the blood.
“Nightmare! What the hell did you do?” He snarled, turning into his human form. Nightmare didn’t hear him. He was too busy sobbing over Amberlynn who laid on the ground, muttering to herself silently. He kissed her gently.
“Amby… Amby… It’ll be okay.” He promised, but his face turned to that of shock when a pole was plunged through her chest. She stared at it for a moment, then fell back, dead. Nightmare stared up at Katze, who was now leaning over the pole. He shook his head.
“Nightmare. Would you rather her have died after years and years of pain or how she did now?” Katze snarled. Nightmare struck his face, his claws cutting three marks into his face. Katze cursed, holding his face. There was a sudden trembling as Nightmare felt his body fall towards the ground. A voice rang through his head.
“Nightmare. My son. Why did you betray me? Now I have to erase your memories to ensure that you remain a true Life Eater.” Satan snarled. Nightmare sighed, feeling strangely relieved as the scene of Amberlynn’s death was released from his mind. Tears streamed down his face as the images of Amberlynn escaped his mind until there was nothing but all the countless bodies he had killed. His mind had been wiped. When Nightmare opened his eyes again, he was on a dock. He sat up slowly, searching the area around him, confused. A young man stepped up to him, glancing at him equally confused, but a bit more curious.
“Sir? Are you going on the ship to New Britain?” He asked. Nightmare paused, then nodded.
“Yes, I am.” He stated calmly.
